This is a very emotional case.
It is about a young mother from Orhei who has a little girl that is 7 months old and who begs on the streets at the entrance to Linella market on Sarmisegetuza street, Botanica, Chisinau. The first time I saw her, I thought she was some kind of gypsy or a drunkard, but I decided to go and talk to her. I asked whether she had parents, relatives or husband and she replied that she has no one. I felt sorry for her, especially when I saw the little child in her arms. She said that her husband abandoned her and she lives with her mother in law who gave her a room. Besides she does not have a permanent residence. Maria has no parents as they died. How dose she live in this room, what are the living conditions, how dose she take care of a little girl, I do not know, I did not ask her. She just told me that she is on her own; no one helps her with any food or clothing for the child.
I asked whether she receives any allowance for the child, and she told me that the allowance is only 500 lei per month. I also wanted to find out who is helping her with clothes for the baby. She said that sometimes the girls from Linella market are supporting her. In conclusion, we can say that she needs a lot of things for the baby: clothes, diapers, etc. Not so long ago, I made her a gift and gave her my old mobile phone; I put a little money on its account and told her to call me if she needs something. Not long ago, she calledand asked me to bring a blanket and fourth size diapers. I though about the little baby and bought her everything she asked for.
Maria from Orhei needs various things to raise a seven months old baby. She needs warm clothes for winter, diapers, food for herself as she is still breastfeeding, but she does not have a single reliable source of income.
