Maxim was growing up as a healthy and happy boy, he was really into sports. He had a real passion for football. He was on the football field, when on February 19, the boy was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia M6. The disease began with symptoms of yellowing of the skin and mucous membranes. After that he visited the hepatologist, gastroenterologist, immunologist. Various diseases were excluded. Afterwards his family took him to a hematologist and thus on February 19, 2016 Maxim was placed in the hematology unit of the Oncology Institute in Chisinau. During the next 3 weeks, the boy's family spent all their efforts to find a suitable clinic and financial resources necessary for the beginning of treatment. On March 14, Maxim was placed in the clinic CFSC ”D.Rogacev” from Moscow, as a patient on contractual basis. Further treatment included the bone marrow transplantation. The cost of treatment (excluding any costs associated with complications) was established to be 10 million rubles, about 139 thousand Euros. Until now, Maxim underwent three cycles of chemotherapy. On July 8 the bone marrow transplantation took place. The donor was his sister as she is perfectly compatible with Maxim. After transplantation, Maxim underwent surgery on the stomach and intestines, which were necessary due to complications related to Graft Versus Host Disease. Currently there are no more side effects and the transplantation shows positive results. Maxim will follow several months of rehabilitation, and in better case, a year of treatment that requires some very expensive drugs. Seven months ago Maxim promised the doctors that he will follow their advice and will soon recover. So far the boy keeps his promise. Please help Maxim fight cancer disease!!!
