Employees of the Ministry of the Environment organize "humanitarian" visits to feed the swans, which are currently among ice floes.
Hundreds of swans that arrived from Northern Europe and found refuge in Napadova village, Floresti district, are under death threat. The Dniester River is frozen, and food resources of swans are decreasing, so the staff of the Ministry is looking for people who, together with colleagues from the agency Apele Moldovei and the State Ecological Inspectorate, would like to avoid the daily urban routine and get out into nature, to feed the swans. Also, anyone can make a financial contribution for the purchase of cereals (wheat, maize, barley, sunflower seeds).
Rescue teams are here on a permanent basis, to break the ice to increase the habitat of swans, as well as to keep them away from poachers. Swans settled in large numbers near the village Napadova due to the measures taken by the Ministry of Environment, in particular in regards to the ban on hunting the migratory birds. Within two weeks, the Ministry of Environment staff brought several bags of "industrial products", concentrates of maize and wheat. The food is distributed on the ice, at large distances in order to be available for a larger number of swans.
Everybody can donate money or food. The food for the swans can be brought at the following address: mun. Chisinau, Ciocana, Vadul lui Voda str. 100, phone number 069 104 077 - I. Suruceanu.
Together we will save the swans and the migratory birds, and we will prove we have the most friendly and hospitable country in the world!
