A Message from the Family:
There are so many loving, kind-hearted mothers in this world... That’s how our essay about “Mom” begins.
When you're a child and your parents are still young and full of energy, you don’t think much about the past. Instead, you look to the future — wondering what it will be like, and what kind of mother yours will be in the years ahead.
Our mother's future now depends on us — her four children. That’s why we’ve created this post, titled “A Little Something for Mom.”
In 2021, our mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. It all started without any symptoms — just a routine checkup. No one is ever ready to hear the word “cancer.”
She went through it all: a mastectomy, removal of lymph nodes, chemotherapy (some of the medication had to be sourced from Turkey). But despite the treatment, the disease has returned and spread to other organs.
At this stage, she needs a very expensive treatment. Even with our savings and loans from the bank, we simply can’t afford to pay for it in full or on time.
The prescribed medication is Trastuzumab deruxtecan (ENHERTU). It’s not available in our country and isn’t being imported. We found it in Turkey, but it comes at a very high cost.
Our mother is a truly kind and gentle person — as they say, “she wouldn’t hurt a fly.” This is a test life has thrown at us. Emotionally, we’re rich because we still have her. But financially, we need the support of those willing to stand with us in this fight.
Mom, you are strong. You’ve already overcome so much in life. You don’t have just one child — there are four of us. And we’re all here for you.
