On December 31, 2015 Daria was diagnosed with "right humerus osteosarcoma, 4th stage". Our family was shocked with the news we received right before new year. During 2016 Daria was treated in Moscow, she underwent 6 rounds of chemotherapy and a surgery. The doctors removed the tumor and replaced the bones from arm, shoulder, the collarbone and elbow. After the surgery, doctors began the treatment of lung metastases and Daria underwent another surgery. However, two months later, there was a recurrence of the affection in the same place. Doctors proposed an amputations and we gave our consent, but bone marrow analysis showed that Daria will not handle another chemotherapy session and it is much too dangerous to operate a growing tumor. Afterwards, the doctors prescribed us some expensive pills to replace the chemotherapy. These pills do not cure the diseases, but they have the ability to stop it from progressing. The monthly expenditure for these pills is approximately $ 3,000. Daria continues to take these pills with the hope that her bone marrow will recover and she will continue the further treatment and will undergo the lungs surgery.
