A message from Elena:
My name is Elena. I am 23 years old and in 2012 I was diagnosed with Charcot–Marie–Tooth disease. Our doctors said that this is a genetic disease that cannot be treated. For 6 years, the disease has progressed considerably and now I can walk only with someone’s support, and my hands are becoming very weak. In April 2018, I went for a consultation to a hospital in Brussels, Belgium. There, during the initial examination, the doctor told me that the diagnosis was made incorrectly and asked me to do a genetic test and some other surveys. For all these surveys, I paid 4,000 euros, this is a very large amount for my family. I spent all the money I had, some money I took from my relatives, some money I borrowed. In October 2018 I went to the hospital and underwent all the necessary examinations. The results after the genetic test showed that the initial diagnosis was incorrect. Now it is considered that I suffer from an inflammatory disease that is treatable, but inflammation is very difficult to detect and it is necessary to undergo several more examinations. I lost 6 years of my life due to an incorrect diagnosis, and I did not receive any treatment, as it was believed that I had no chance. But I hope that everything will turn out fine. Unfortunately, I need to undergo further examinations, but we no longer have the money. I feel that over time, the disease weakens my body. I hope to find good people who can help me, because I really hope that I can live without pain and suffering.
For some, it may be a small sum, but for me it is huge, since I cannot work. Therefore, I beg all people of goodwill to help me.
Thank you!
