Sometimes I close my eyes and try to remember what it was like to simply walk. My name is Eugen. I am only 19 years old. At an age when I should be running toward my future, making plans and dreaming, I found myself confined to a wheelchair. Everything shattered in a single moment.

On May 29, 2023, I fell off my motorcycle and fractured my spine at the C5-C6 level. From that second on, my life was never the same. There were endless surgeries, unbearable pain, hospitals, and nights spent in tears—I cried in silence so my mother wouldn't see my despair. The hardest part isn't even the physical pain. It’s watching your mother suffer right in front of you, unable to do anything to help. It’s seeing the life of your entire family come to a standstill along with your own.

Sometimes I just sit and watch people passing by, wondering if I will ever feel the ground beneath my feet again. I started rehabilitation and, for the first time since the accident, I felt hope. Small movements. Small results. Small miracles.

The doctors say I have a chance… but it is vital that I continue my treatment and recovery. My family can no longer carry this burden alone. My mother fights for me day and night. My older brother also has a disability, and my younger brother tries to be our strength, even though he is still just a child. I don’t want to spend my whole life looking at the world from this chair. I don’t want to be a burden to my loved ones. I just want to stand up. I want to walk. I want to live.

I’m begging you—if you can feel the pain in the heart of a 19-year-old boy—please help me keep fighting. For me, this is the only chance to get my life back. I don’t want to give up. Not at 19…
