4 years ago, on December 11, 2012 there was launched the website pentruviata.md. This is an anonymous chat for the Hotline for Suicide Prevention.
On our 4th anniversary, we are in a situation where we may cease to exist. One of the reasons is the indifference of people that could make a a differnce or that could support us.
We work mainly on voluntary basis, only in the evening and still the anonymous chat helped more than 1,500 people. 1500 stories about life ... about pain ... about loneliness
Think a little bit about the teenager, Ion, which has not yet started to feel what life is, but already wants to leave it. Or an old woman, Elena, who feels like she is a burden for relatives. Or Tudor who is unhappy because of his alcohol addiction. Or a woman, Stella, can not tell anyone that she is abused. Each of these cases is important. Each of these individuals carry a deep emotional pain. Each of these stories deserve our attention and everyone deserves to hear the phrase "I am near you and I will support you."
Think about yourself. How many times, you wanted and deserved to hear these words? We lack someone who would not judge us, who would not give us advices, but will simply listen to us... Experts say that each of us must have at least 6 close persons to be by our side in sickness and in health. How many people do you have? Now, as you are reading this message, hundreds of people in Moldova feel loneliness. Many of them are crying, and many of them are still children ... Loneliness is the reason №1 for suicide. And to prevent this burden, we can only use our kindness, our attention and our care.
Please help us continue this activity and bring more hope to people’s home, to their hearts and keep active the chat of Hotline for suicide prevention!
We need a minimum amount of 14,000 lei per month to pay for our office and to install a free phone number for people from across the country to be able to give us a call.

**** SAD STATISTICS: Every year in Moldova about 500-700 people commit suicide, 20-30 of them are children. We must act and do everything in our power to decrease this number. Suicide is a public health problem that can be prevented!
