A message from Rotary E-Club Moldova International

Every educational institution is obliged to accept and abide by the rules introduced in the context of the pandemic. And although there are washstands in all of these institutions, there are schools that do not have the ability to adapt these requirements in their sanitary facilities and children still go out to the outhouse (outside toilets).

Typically, schools that do not have toilets inside, have special outhouses (outside toilets) which are quite far from the institution and are usually kept in poor condition, there are no cubicles or partitions for privacy, no electricity or heating in winter, no handwashing facilities, and are rarely cleaned.

The project "Igiena contează - școala progresează!" (Hygiene is important for schools to progress!) Is intended for schools from rural areas, which have been chosen as a result of a transparent competition, and their number will depend on the overall project budget. Refurbishment/ construction of toilets in schools will be carried out in accordance with WHO guidelines and standards for water, sanitation and hygiene. So far, we have assessed the needs and selected 30 schools based on strict criteria. Partnerships have been established with relevant educational institutions, local government administrations, parent associations who really want to make some changes ... They are ready to contribute and they need our encouragement and support.

Rotary E-Club Moldova International, Rotary Club Chisinau Triumph, Rotary Club Soroca have started the rehabilitation of 30 sanitary facilities in schools across the country. The total amount of the project is 150 thousand dollars, we intend to attract 20 thousand dollars from Moldova, and the rest will be collected by Rotary clubs in different countries of the world. Therefore, we will have the opportunity to create the best conditions for the pupils and students of Moldova.

Each and everyone of us went to school and many of our most precious memories are somehow connected to our school. Today we urge you to make a donation in order to create better conditions for these students. Let them be proud of the educational institution in which they started their life journey.
